SUMMARY:Understanding the Role of Anthropogenic Heat in Shaping Urban Heat Islands and Groundwater Response Through Remote Sensing
DESCRIPTION:This lecture focuses on the growing impact of anthropogenic heat in urban areas and its role in intensifying urban heat islands and altering groundwater temperature patterns. Through the use of remote sensing—particularly thermal and optical satellite imagery—we will explore how land use changes and increased impervious surfaces contribute to rising surface and subsurface temperatures. The session emphasizes the relevance of geospatial analysis for understanding urban climate dynamics and supports sustainable urban planning and water resource management. \n\nVIEW RECORDING\n\n\n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Dr. Surya Deb ChakrabortySenior Analyst at MBRSC Lab\, University of DubaiDr. Surya Deb Chakraborty is a Remote Sensing and GIS expert\, Earth Observation Scientist\, and AI for Geospatial Innovation specialist\, currently serving as a Senior Analyst at the MBRSC Lab\, University of Dubai\, where his work focuses on Earth Observation\, disaster monitoring\, environmental intelligence\, and advanced geospatial applications.
