SUMMARY:Advancing Coastal Hazard Monitoring\, Modelling\, and Resilience Assessment from Space
DESCRIPTION:This webinar will explore how satellite Earth observation\, in-situ measurements\, numerical modelling\, and artificial intelligence can be integrated to monitor coastal hazards and assess resilience under a changing climate. It will highlight the use of next-generation satellite missions\, including SWOT\, to understand shoreline dynamics\, extreme events\, coastal erosion\, and sea-level rise\, with the Normandy coast of NW France presented as a case study. The session will also introduce the emerging concept of digital coastal twins\, demonstrating how integrated observation and modelling approaches can support hazard forecasting\, climate-change scenario assessment\, and resilience-informed coastal adaptation. \n\nView Recording\n\n\n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Prof. Imen TurkiProfessor & Senior Researcher at Rouen Normandy UniversityProf. Imen Turki is an expert in coastal oceanography\, natural hazards\, and shoreline evolution\, specializing in the integration of satellite Earth Observation\, numerical modelling\, and in-situ data to monitor coastal dynamics and assess resilience. She is a member of the SWOT Science Team and co-leads coastal applications of the Surface Water and Ocean Topography (SWOT) mission (JPL–CNES). She also contributes as an expert to UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) and represents France in an international UN Ocean Decade committee. Her current research focuses on combining Earth Observation\, modelling\, and artificial intelligence to develop Digital Coastal Twins for coastal hazard assessment\, climate adaptation\, and resilience.   \n\n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n No Results Found

SUMMARY:From Polaris to Precision GNSS and LEO Navigation Satellites: The Evolution of Positioning for a Connected World
DESCRIPTION:An engaging webinar exploring humanity’s journey in navigation—from using Polaris\, the North Star\, as a timeless guide to today’s Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) and the emerging role of Low Earth Orbit (LEO) navigation satellites. \nWith more than 120 operational navigation satellites transmitting diverse multi-frequency signals from several global and regional constellations\, GNSS has become a fundamental technology for precise positioning\, navigation\, timing\, and Earth observation. This webinar will introduce the principles of modern GNSS positioning and highlight recent advances in real-time precise orbit and clock estimation\, atmospheric-delay modelling and prediction\, and high-accuracy positioning services. \nParticipants will also discover how GNSS is transforming scientific research and practical applications\, including terrestrial reference-frame maintenance\, monitoring plate tectonics and crustal deformation\, precise low-Earth-orbit determination\, ionospheric activity monitoring\, GNSS meteorology\, GNSS seismology\, and innovative GNSS remote sensing using reflected signals (GNSS-R). \nWhether you are a student\, researcher\, surveyor\, GIS professional\, or remote-sensing enthusiast\, this webinar will provide a clear and inspiring view of how satellite navigation is shaping a more accurately mapped\, monitored\, and connected world. \n\nRegister Now\n\n\n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Dr. Mohamed FreeshahAssistant Professor at United Arab Emirates UniversityDr. Freeshah received a B.Eng. in Surveying Engineering from Benha University\, Egypt\, in 2010\, and an MSc in Geodesy and Surveying from the same university in 2016. He earned his PhD from LIESMARS\, Wuhan University\, China\, in 2021\, followed by a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the School of Geodesy and Geomatics\, Wuhan University. Since 2024\, he has been an Assistant Professor at United Arab Emirates University (UAEU).
