Mohamed Barakat received a bachelor’s degree in surveying engineering from the Sudan University of Sciences and Technology, Khartoum, Sudan, in 2010. He obtained a master’s degree in Remote Sensing and GIS from the Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Selangor, Malaysia, in 2015. He has published over 25 articles in the field of remote sensing and GIS in peer-reviewed journals. His research interests focus on harnessing the power of remote sensing technologies and state-of-the-art ML techniques in various Earth-related applications (i.e., vegetation and urban mapping from VHR data, environmental monitoring, and other applications).
